Three Key Differences Between The Group And Private Pilates Classes
The Pilates exercise is widely practiced due to the many health benefits it brings. Over the decades, this fitness practice is being continuously improved and eventually branched out into various disciplines. Pilates is loved and practiced by many Singaporeans who aim to enhance their body posture and strengthen their muscles. An increasing number of athletes, dancers, runners and other sportsmen in Singapore feel the urgency of enrolling in a Pilates class.
Those who are planning to start practicing Pilates; usually find themselves torn between getting into a private class or a group class. In choosing between the two, there are always some advantages and disadvantages. Depending on your personal needs, time and budget, you will find one as better set up than the other.
Class Fee
In choosing between private and group Singapore Pilates classes, the amount of class fee obviously differs. Private classes are more pricy compared to a group class for the same class duration. Since, you will solely consume an instructor’s time and occupy a separate classroom in private class; you have to pay more too.
When you attend a group Pilates class for example, expect at least three other clients in the class who will practice together with you. This results in less individual attention time from the instructor and less resources expenditure for the Pilates Singapore studio—such as room space and electricity.
Instructor’s Focus
When you need individual attention from your instructor for instance if you are a beginner or under a delicate condition, you need to have private Pilates classes. Such as, if you are a person recovering from an injury or you just had your surgery, the instructor will program a special routine to assist you on your route of recovery. Private class setting is also applicable for prenatal or postnatal women. Since their condition is delicate, the instructor needs to supervise closely while the client is working out.
If you are not under a delicate condition, getting into a group Singapore Pilates class can be very stimulating. Experienced Pilates practitioners who understand the basic principles of Pilates—from breathing, to correct body movement and placement do not have to feel conscious while doing the Pilates routines.
Class Schedule
Group Pilates classes in Singapore usually last for one hour on a fixed schudule. If you miss a class, you have to adjust to another available schedule. In a private class set up, you have more liberty to ask for a schedule depending on your free time and that of the instructor. Regardless group or private class, it is good if you cancel the class at least 24 hours in advance. This is to allow for others who are in the waiting list to join the class.
Moreover, you also have other choices in conducting a Pilates class, as some studios allow students to have duet classes or even organize a small group with their friends or officemates.
